SUBMISSIONS
Submissions are CLOSED - Issue 3 subs open April 2025.
There is no charge to send your work to AEOS Magazine. We aim to make the process as simple as we can. No 2k word lists of what to do. No fiery hoops to jump through. Just email our submissions guy Darnie with what you'd like to see in the mag:

We're Looking For
Three things:
Poetry. (one page max)
Short Fiction. (2k words max)
Non-Fiction. (2k words max)
The first two are easy enough to figure out, beyond tastes (getting to that) but by Non-Fiction we mean articles, journalism, opinion pieces and similar. We'll interpret each as they come in. What we're not looking for is anything to do with reviews, writerly naval gazing, how to write instructions, or any Publishing (with a capital P) log-rolling.
If in doubt, drop Darnie an email.
Please keep to Word docs (attachments only, no links to Google-Docs etc); 11-point Courier; indented pars only (no spacing between pars); single-line spacing. Any creative formatting will need to be supplied as a .jpg. And please supply a simple one-or-two lines bio (no previous publishing lists, university details, or inside-leg measurements, please) and confirm the submission has not been published elsewhere.
Please note due to the very high number of submissions coming in we can only respond to those we wish to publish. Please don't assume a negative response to your work because we don't email you back, we simply cannot reply to everyone.
The Taste Test
Every outlet has different tastes, we like good writing (yes, that); off the wall voices; thought-provoking work. We like it real, and maybe even gritty.
What we don't like is anything promoting politics or ideologies. Both can be in the work, but as part of the whole and will need to work hard to earn their place. Genre is also out, we see it everywhere, especially Crime. We're looking solely for those under-represented voices that the mainstream has abandoned.
We don't like the mainstream fiction market. What we do like is new voices and the sorts of stories no one seems to tell anymore. Autobiographical tales hit the mark, think Algren, Carver, Trocchi, McCullers. We like those who keep it real.
And finally, do keep trying if your submission isn't accepted right away - we want to read the best that's out there - but don't resubmit anything we've already passed on. And no reprints, only unpublished material. (See above, please confirm unpublished with your submission.)
There's no payment on offer, and we doubt there ever will be. We'd like to reach a point where each contributor receives a free hard copy of the magazine, but for now it will only be a very pretty PDF. And sorry, but with such a lean outfit, we can only contact those we'd like to publish and can't offer any advice or comment on submissions.
If, after all that, you're still here then we'd love to hear about your writing:
